Whirlpool Canada Energy-Efficient Appliances Help Consumers Preserve the Earth’s Resources and Save Money
In 1999, Whirlpool Canada received Canada’s first National Energy
Efficiency Award for its Inglis and Whirlpool brand Resource Saver™
Washer. Natural Resources Canada selected the washer for its significant
reductions in energy and water usage and as an “excellent example of how
leveraging expertise and initiative are making Canada a world leader in
energy efficiency.”
Whirlpool Canada and its parent, Whirlpool Corporation, continues to be
a leader in setting new energy efficiency standards in the appliance
industry. Named for the past three years as an ENERGY STAR® Appliance
Partner of the Year by the U.S. Department of Energy and the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency, Whirlpool Corporation is committed to
selling and marketing appliances that will reduce energy consumption in
the home, saving consumers money on energy bills and ultimately
contributing to reduced air pollution.

A Leader in Energy Efficient Home Appliances that Do Not Compromise on Performance
Whirlpool Canada has introduced two innovations in laundry appliances
that significantly reduce energy consumption in the home. The Whirlpool®
Calypso™ Wash Motion washer uses 50 per cent less water and 66 per cent
less energy than a conventional washer. The Whirlpool Duet® front-load
washer is the most energy efficient machine on the market, taking all
elements into consideration. It uses at least 67 per cent less water and
electricity than conventional washers, and uses the least amount of
water per wash of all other machines of comparable size. This is a
substantial savings when you consider most front-load and conventional
washing machines use at least 100 litres of water per wash.
In addition, Whirlpool Canada has launched numerous products in other
product categories that will realize substantial energy savings for
consumers.
Whirlpool now offers five new ENERGY STAR labeled dishwashers that save
728 gallons of water and 112 kilowatt hours of energy each year over
previous conventional models. The new Whirlpool Conquest™ side-by-side
refrigerator saves 791 Kilowatt hours per year compared to a 10 year-old
model. Whirlpool also offers four new ENERGY STAR labeled top-mount
refrigerators exceeding the latest energy guidelines by more than ten
percent.

Whirlpool Strongly Encourages Consumers to Look for the ENERGY STAR® Label when Purchasing a New Home Appliance
Whirlpool Strongly Encourages Consumers to Look for the ENERGY STAR®
Label when Purchasing a New Home Appliance
Whirlpool Canada prominently uses the ENERGY STAR® logo in advertising,
literature, and point of purchase materials. The company believes it
very clearly communicates to consumers both the energy savings delivered
by certain appliances, along with the positive impact this energy
savings has on the environment. A clear example of the environmental
impact of newer, energy efficient models is the fact that today you can
operate 3 to 4 refrigerators in your home using less energy than it
takes to operate a single refrigerator that was purchased 19 years ago.
